New Lone Ranger movies: This news comes from MTV News: “Hi-Ho Silver, away!”
A modern movie hero who doesn’t curse, doesn’t use slang, who doesn’t drink or
smoke or visit saloons, who believes in God and country and a strict moral code, who
only uses guns when he has to, and even then never shoots to kill? The American
West is about to get a dose of reserved cowboy justice, as super producer Jerry
Bruckheimer has confirmed to MTV News that he’s developing a “Lone Ranger”
series of films.
“It’s being written, well it’s not being written now, but it’s about to be written,” he said
of the rumored project. “We were just working out the story before the strike and
hopefully that will end soon and we can continue on.”
We, in this case, means “Pirates of the Caribbean” writers Ted Elliott and Terry
Rossio. But don’t think that means the titular hero will be anything like Captain Jack,
cautions Bruckheimer, who revealed that the story wouldn’t be an update, but instead
something of an origin story. That means adhering to the strict moral code laid down
by “Lone Ranger” creator Fran Striker.
“I wouldn’t say it’s an updating of the tale, I would say it’s kind of getting back to the
roots of the tale,” Bruckheimer confessed. “Where it originated from — it’s about
Texas Rangers, so we’re going to take it to how the characters are created.”
It would be a somewhat fitting next step for Bruckheimer and crew, considering that
fifteen years ago the two genres that were universally acknowledged to be dead were
pirate movies and westerns. When you’ve conquered one, why not go for the other?
On the future of that first lucrative franchise, meanwhile, Bruckheimer said the time
isn’t yet right to discuss “Pirates 4.”
“Not yet, not yet,” he said, smiling. “We’re still counting the money from the last one!”

Silver Bullet coming soon: The December issue of The Silver Bullet is back from
the printers and should be mailed around Dec. 17.

T-Shirts delayed: The 75th anniversary T-shirts are slower coming back from the
printers than expected. We are making every effort to get them out before the end of
the year. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Silver Bullet delayed: The September 2007 issue of The Silver Bullet is headed to
the printer and should be mailed around Sept. 28-29.

August 2007: Lone Ranger 75th Anniversary Celebration: The Lone Ranger

May 2007: Lone Ranger movie rumor: There is plenty of buzz on the Internet
about producer Jerry Bruckheimer being interested in making a Lone Ranger movie.
Please note that this is just a rumor until you hear it from reliable sources. It would be
nice if it were true, but as of now, it isn't.

January 2007: DVD fraud alert: TVDVDPlanet.com has been advertising the
complete Lone Ranger TV series on DVD. We strongly recommend you do not order
it from them. As of Jan. 3, three people who have ordered it online have not received
it and have not been able to contact the company to check on their order.
Update Jan. 16: We have received this review of the DVDs.
Hi Pardners,
After real scrutiny of The Lone Ranger DVD set, I have to say that I would not
recommend it to others who are looking for the complete 221 episodes.
First off, it is NOT complete, there are a number of episodes missing, both Clayton
Moore & John Hart shows. It misses 2 episodes here, 3 episodes there, et. al.
Also, the shows are not in the correct order of broadcast, which is extremely
annoying. It moves along in order on a few discs, then with the next numbered disc, it
jumps to shows that do not follow in the proper order from the previous discs.
As I originally mentioned, the quality is from very good to excellent, if you just don't let
the Lone Star logo bother you in the black & white episodes. All the color episodes
appear excellent, but those are even missing 3 shows.
So all in all, I do not feel it is a good buy.

December Silver Bullet: The issue was mailed Dec. 8 and should arrive to
subscribers shortly.

Movie update: In 2004, it was announced that Jonathan Mostow would direct the
new Lone Ranger movie. This month it was announced that he would be taking on a
new Sub-Mariner movie for Marvel. We checked with Sony and this is the latest word
about the movie: Jonathan Mostow hasn't been involved with the project for a while
now, so Sub-Mariner doesn't really impact us.

Lone Ranger comic sold out! The first issue of the new Lone Ranger comic by
Dynamite Entertainment has sold out and is now headed into a second printing.

John Hart: We have recently received word that John Hart, the 1952 Lone Ranger,
is in ill health. He is no longer able to accept fan mail and is no longer living in his
California home. Our prayers go out to John and his wife Beryl.

delayed. We anticipate it being mailed by Sept. 9.

New comic in September: Dynamite Entertainment has announced that it's new

it in the mail very soon.

convention in Amarillo, Texas, in 2008 in honor of the 75th anniversary of the Lone
Ranger.

Tonto's the man!: Classic Media has informed me that the part of Tonto in the
new movie will be played by a man
and not a woman, as had been rumored!

rallying fans to petition the United States Postal Service to issue a Lone Ranger

February 2006: Lone Ranger "in development"

any additional information at this time except to say that it's "in development." I've
been assured we will receive information as it becomes available. Stay tuned!

publishing a new, ongoing Lone Ranger comic book. A publication date has not been
set. Stay tuned for more information.

complete. We now have Internet access again. Look for many more updates and
additions coming to this site in the next few weeks.

Tom Gill dies: Lone Ranger cartoonist Tom Gill passed away Oct. 18, 2005. Tom
drew The Lone Ranger comic book for Dell for 20 years. A memorial service is being
planned for a later time.

Subscription changes: Due to the rising printing costs and declining renewals, we
will be suspending the use of color on The Silver Bullet and reducing the renewal fee
to $20. See the upcoming December issue for details.

NEW CARTOON: See the September Silver Bullet for information about a new Lone
Ranger cartoon.

Chief Thundercloud autographed tomahawk. Laurie Z. (aka Parot-Head) has an
item of interest to Lone Ranger fans on eBay. It is an original movie prop used and
"hand signed" by Chief Thundercloud (Victor Daniels).  To see the auction, click

Lone Ranger on the Super Bowl. Did you see it? In one of the commercials before
the game, a boy is walking by televisions through the ages. On one of the screens is
the black and white opening of
The Lone Ranger!

Sandy Sanders died. Sandy Sanders, who appeared in three episodes of "The
Lone Ranger," passed away on January 2, 2005 in California. He was probably best
known for his work as a stuntman. Sandy was a stunt double for both Clayton Moore
and Gene Autry, during his long career.

Info on the new Lone Ranger movie. The movie now has a director, Jonathan
Mostow, who was the director for
Terminator 3 and U-571. The script is currently
being re-written by screenwriter Laeta Kalogridis, who has writing credits for
X-Men,
Alexander, Laura Croft: Tomb Raider
and Scream 3. Laeta also developed and wrote
the television series
Birds of Prey for the WB network. The movie is reportedly
scheduled for release in 2006.

Hollywood Collector's Show. At the Feb. 18-19 Hollywood Collector's Show in
Burbank, CA, you will have the opportunity to see a number of actors who have
appeared in episodes of The Lone Ranger. Those planning on attending at this time
are: Noel Neill ("Letter of the Law" # 69), Marjorie Lord ("Bullets for Ballots" # 35 &
"The Law Lady" # 155), James Best ("Framed for Murder" # 177), Robert Quarry (A
