Johnny Depp was left battered and bruised while filming "The Lone Ranger" after taking a "violent" fall from a horse during a scene.

Depp plays Tonto opposite Armie Hammer's Lone Ranger in the Disney adaptation of the classic TV show, which is slated for a 2013 release. But filming the Western was tough on Depp, who suffered an injury when a shoot went wrong. He tells Britain's Daily Mirror, "I'm lucky to be here. I've done a number of films on horseback and I've taken a couple of spills, but this was a violent one.

"I had a good relationship with the horse, whose name is Scout, and when I look at the tape I can see that Scout saved my life. I went down badly and I was dragged for 25 yards and, in the end, the horse jumped over me and just clipped me with his back legs."

Verbinski, Bruckheimer, and Disney have wasted no time in releasing an official still from the film to give hungry fans a look at what Johnny Depp's Tonto and Armie Hammer's John Reid (aka The Lone Ranger) would look like in character.

They look - well what you see is what you are going to get, they look like they're both sporting quite a look. Hammer's Ranger is much more dapper than the Rangers of the past - lawmen who didn't have time for a three-piece suit.

And Tonto - whoa! Now know as a "Spirit Warrior". That's a lot of accessories on one man. Is that an entire bird on his head? Yup, there are definitely some bold sartorial choices at play here.

For anyone one that remembers the good moral character of wholesomeness for kids, this new image could be the Black Death of The Lone Ranger and Tonto - forever!

"The Lone Ranger" will be released in May 31, 2013.

Once the movie is released you can read more about the filming here.
